Fairly Traded

It is sad to think that, as we buy our unique gifts for babies and children, some products could have been made in appalling conditions in the poorer areas of the world. In setting up our business code and ethics, this thought was central to our selection policy. On this site we endeavour to feature products that are ethically sourced and are not merely the best newborn baby ideas.

We have set the search criteria as 'Fairly Traded' because there is more to Fairtrade than meets the eye. The majority of our Fairly Traded goods are made with certified FAIRTRADE COTTON. The Fairly Traded goods are produced in carefully vetted factories adhering to the SA 8000 certification ensuring best workplace practice and adherance to international principles of human rights; while this is ensuring high standards, it is still not the same as being certified FAIRTRADE.    

The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on UK products as a guarantee that they have been certified against internationally agreed Fairtrade standards. The FAIRTRADE COTTON certification gives small-scale cotton farmers in the developing world the power to improve their livelihoods by ensuring they receive a fair and stable price for their cotton and the additional Fairtrade Premium that is set aside and used in community development project.
